The House will consider whether to attach a measure to bolster the federal government’s use of cloud computing technology to must-pass defense legislation, even as senators are trying to get a broader cybersecurity package signed into law.

The Rules Committee on Tuesday agreed to a floor vote on codifying the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program, which standardizes federal cloud computing services to ensure they meet security requirements, as part of an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (H.R. 7900). The House passed similar language by voice vote under H.R. 21 in early 2021.
